Lost in Germany’s Lakes.

Germany's lakes conceal a fascinating history of wrecks and sunken relics, hidden beneath the surface. Car wrecks, the result of ice breaks, and aircraft and ships intentionally sunk for divers create a unique underwater landscape. One notable example for historic wrecks are the Kaffenkähne in Werbelliner See, used for transporting bricks up to Berlin from the 17th to the 19th century, now resting quietly on the lakebed. Despite their seemingly unremarkable appearance from above, these lakes hold a surprising variety of wrecks, many lying in the dark and difficult to locate. These submerged relics offer a rare glimpse into the past, preserved and slowly reclaimed by nature.
